The story is remarkable. Greg Mortenson is a modern day saint. Just reading the headlines today about increased violence in Afghanistan had me wondering about his mission. What he's accomplished is pretty amazing, and I think this is a must read, especially for those Americans who assume all Muslims are terrorists. The only problem I had with this book was the writing. It is awkward and cluttered. Especially at the beginning. Or maybe I got used to the writer's style (or lack thereof). Kudos to the guy for several years of work and multiple trips to Central Asia as part of his research, but he needs to work on his craft. And the editors could have exerted themselves more. Otherwise, I overcame the disjointed and clumsiness of the prose in the early part of the book and became engrossed in the story, which is the most important part and not to be missed.
