This is a story of an immense personal and spiritual struggle. Her views are very clear that the Muslim religion is not peaceful to women or to the Western non-Muslim world. She says we should not be fooled into believing that only a few militant Islamist hate the Western world. It is well written and gives the reader a glimps of what struggles many women in Muslim society deal with, some so bizarre I had a hard time believing it really does go on in modern times. She dared to question her belief and in doing so put the honor of her family and her life at risk. I did not consider all the things she did heroic, but I do think it is a good book to read and ponder. It helped me to understand one point of view of Islam and the struggles of women in that faith.
