Hemingway yêu thích của tôi cho đến nay; làm cho tôi muốn đi đến Tây Ban Nha. Bạn có thể yêu Hemingway hoặc bạn ghét anh ta, và tôi rất vui khi trở thành một phần của người cũ.
It was ok - though I didn't love it, I still stayed up late to see how it all turned out.
a great read. a collection of well-written science articles from various newspapers, such as the new yorker, washington post, etc. touches on subjects such as: the effect of measles vaccinations on autism, what makes a person homosexual, the so-called obesity ¨epidemic¨, global warming, among others.
I actually liked this book more than I thought I would. Hemingway's writing style can be difficult to handle, at times. The terse, athletic, often vague sentences come off as a form of English one has never seen before; this, of course, is intentional, as the author seems to be suggesting that you should pay less attention to his words and more attention to his story and characters. Eh. The ending is quite moving.
What I liked: The interweaving of the past stories in Africa with the more recent stories in the US. The description of the refugee orientation, as refugees are about to be transferred from a camp in Kenya to the U.S. Items described/explained included snow, air conditioning, and public transportation. Learning more about these times and places (Sudan, Ethiopia, and Kenya) in history. The voice of the narrator. What I was not bothered by: This fictional autobiography. (A form that was not enjoyed by all, apparently.) What would have improved this book: Better editing, both for length and for typos.
